A Space
- for creative learning and support
A Space, established in 1997 by Alex Sainsbury (Glass-House Trust, Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts), the Social Science Research Unit and Hackney Education (now The Learning Trust), is an organisation working with pupils, parents/carers and families to provide opportunities to learn about emotions and how to express them healthily.
By using creative resources and the arts, A Space provides platforms and possibilities for young people to deal with life experiences that might be hard to talk about (eg. illness/ dying/ death; family breakdown; mental health issues; school exclusion; family members in prison; loss in general) as well as building understanding that cultural differences and diversity are part of life and influence who we are and how we see the world.
